		<Abstract>Background and Aim: Today, the use of traditional plant compounds to kill or interfere with their quorum sensing (QS) mechanisms is considered as an alternative approach to control secondary bacterial infections during or after a viral infection. In this study, anti-bacterial and anti-quorum sensing effect of Dionysia revolute Boiss against five secondary bacterial infections of COVID-19 patients were evaluated.Materials and Methods: Extraction of the plant compounds was carried out using n-hexane, methanol, and 96% ethanol mixed solvent. Bacterial samples were collected from respiratory tract fluids among COVID-19 patients and recognized with API kits. Antibacterial activity of the herbal extract was assessed by disc diffusion method as proposed by the Clinical Laboratory Standards Institute (CLSL, 2015). Hence, anti-QS activities of this herbal extract at the sub-minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) were assessed by violacein quantification assay in Chromobacterium violaceum CV026 biosensor strains in vitro.Results: As it has been indicated in the Results section, a plant extract from 50 to 0.39 mg/ml exposed their antibacterial impacts via hindering the bacterial growth in comparison with controls and exhibited anti-QS activities via decreasing the violacein formation in C. violaceum CV026 biosensor strain at sub-MIC concentrations (3.1 to 0.39 mg/ml) in vitro.Conclusion: Our study showed that the antimicrobial activities of Dionysia revolute Boiss could be due to their anti-QS properties. Therefore, this medicinal plant either as a stand-alone treatment or in combination with antibiotics could be used as an efficient choice for curing secondary bacterial infections. </Abstract>

		<Abstract>Background and Aim: About 2000 plant species grow in Lorestan province. Ethnobotany and folk healers have played major roles in the health of human beings since ancient times. The aim of this study was to identify and introduce the most widely used and common medicinal plants in traditional medicine of Lorestan province. Materials and Methods: In order to gather information about its medicinal properties and to learn about people&#039;s beliefs about the famous species of the region, several local people, including nomadic, rural residents of urban areas and healers of the province were interviewed. The local medicinal information was collected using semi-structured methods, interviews, and personal observations. The frequency of citation (FC) and relative citation frequency (RFC) indices were used to determine the significance of medicinal species. Plant specimens were collected from habitats of Lorestan province and then were identified and deposited in the herbarium. Results: Among the samples collected from different habitats of the province, 38 most widely used medicinal species belong to 20 plant families with the most extensive traditional use that were identified as the most famous medicinal plants in the region. According to the results of the present study, nomadic people (Kouch rou in Persian) had the most use of medicinal plants compared to other groups participating in the interviews. Conclusion: The high values ​​of FC and RFC indices for each species indicate the indigenous medicinal knowledge about the medicinal properties and treatment of diseases with that certain species. Medicinal plants in Lorestan are mainly used to treat gastrointestinal disorders, kidney diseases and nerve sedatives. Recording and publishing the local names of medicinal plants in the encyclopedia of the country will play pivotal roles in recognizing these potentials and exploiting them. </Abstract>

		<Abstract>Background and Aim: It has been indicated that aluminum phosphide (ALP) and paraquat (PQ) poisoning generate oxidative stress through the production of free radicals. The aim of the present study was to examine the effect of hydro alcoholic extract of Persian shallot and N-acetyl cysteine (NAC) against induced oxidative stress by PQ and ALP. Materials and Methods: Adult male Wister rats were divided into ten groups of 7. Animals received ALP and PQ alone and also in combination with NAC and the hydro alcoholic extract of Persian shallot. After twenty-four hours of treatment, the animals were scarified and their blood as well as liver samples were collected. Then, alanine aminotransferase (ALT), aspartate aminotransferase (AST), catalase (CAT) activity, as well as total antioxidant capacity (TAC) and lipid peroxidation (LPO) were measured. Results: The PQ and ALP significantly increased ALT and AST leakage compared to the control group (P&lt;0.05). The TAC of serum and liver remarkably increased in the groups treated with NAC and hydro alcoholic extracts of Persian shallot in comparison with the control group (P &lt; 0.05). Conclusion: As a natural antioxidant, the hydro alcoholic extract of Persian shallot can counteract with oxidative stress induced by ALP and PQ to ameliorate liver function. 		<Abstract>Background and Aim: In light of the high prevalence of COVID-19 and the need for ventilation support, various methods have been recommended to decrease the need for mechanical ventilation support. In the present study, we made an attempt to compare the effects of rose oil and peppermint extract nebulizer on SpO2 (peripheral oxygen saturation) in COVID-19’s patients. Materials and Methods: This study was conducted on 60 patients with COVID-19 under a standard treatment protocol at the Northeast Corona Center of Tehran. The patients were divided into three groups, i.e. peppermint (n:20), rose oil (n:20) and the control (n:20). The peppermint group received peppermint oil nebulizer twice a day (12 drops in 30cc sterile water for each time), the rose oil group received rose oil nebulizer twice a day (12 drops in 30cc sterile water for each time) and the control group received sterile water with nebulizer (30cc sterile water). SpO2 without extra O2 support was recorded before the start of the nebulizing every day up to 3 days. Results: The results revealed that the mean SpO2 significantly increases over time in all the three groups (P-value&lt;0.001). The mean SpO2 was 84.97 before the treatment, but it was increased to 86.83  , 88.32 , and 89.93  at the first, second and third days of the treatment respectively. The daily increase was statistically significant (P-value&lt;0.001). The results showed that mean SpO2 of the peppermint group was significantly more than the control group at the third day of the treatment. The difference in saturation was 3.25% and the p-value was 0.004. Hence, the need for mechanical ventilation reduced and the patients’ satisfaction increased. Conclusion: The patients experiencing decreases in SpO2 who were treated with peppermint extract showed better results than those treated with placebo at the third day. </Abstract>
