The Herbal Medicines Journal (HMJ) is a double-blind peer-reviewed open-access quarterly journal, owned, managed, established in 2016 and published by Lorestan University of Medical Sciences dedicated to advancing research in herbal medicine, phytotherapy, and natural product sciences. The journal was  and is published quarterly by Lorestan University of Medical Sciences, Iran.

The journal welcomes submissions including original research articles, systematic reviews, meta-analyses, short communications, and case reports in areas including medicinal plant science, pharmacognosy, ethnopharmacology, natural product chemistry, and botanical drug development. The journal aims to contribute to the development of evidence-based herbal medicine and to support the global scientific exchange of knowledge in plant-based therapeutics.

To allow for easy and worldwide access to the most updated research findings, the journal is set to be an open-access journal. The journal charges two million Rials to compensate a part of arbitration fee, and if the article is accepted, additionally four million Rials will be charged from the authors for a part of the cost of processing the articles, the rest of the costs will be financially supported by Allameh Tabataba’I University.
